Ealing Council is cutting the price of parking at Southall Market car park from now until the new year.

During the promotion, drivers will be able to park for just 80p an hour instead of the usual £1.50, Monday to Friday. The price is also being cut at the weekend with shoppers able to stay for just £1.50 an hour, instead of the usual £2.

It comes after local shopkeepers complained in July that they were losing business due to a£11million re-development of Southall Broadway.

Labour MP for Ealing Southall, Virendra Sharma welcomed the move. He said: "I am very glad that the Council has decided to cut the price of parking at the Southall Market car park while the improvement work takes place on the Broadway. Constituents, shoppers and local businesses will certainly appreciate this incentive while the work is continuing.

"The ongoing improvements to the Southall Boulevard are on schedule and will make a huge difference to Southall’s appeal, but, while the works are taking place, I know that all will welcome this price cut."

Southall Market car park is opposite North Road and Southall police station, and is accessed from Uxbridge Road. It is open from 8am until 6pm and has space for 89 cards, including two disabled bays.
