Children in care in Ealing got some of the best GCSE results in England in 2014.

More than 54 per cent of the pupils who took their GCSEs while in care in the borough achieved five A* to C grades according to data from the Department for Education.

This was the fifth highest percentage for any group of looked after children in England.

Hammersmith and Fulham also did well with 42.9 per cent of children getting at least five A* to Cs.

On average 31.1 per cent of children in care in England got at least five GCSEs at grades A* to C in 2014, a big drop on the 37.2 per cent in 2013.

In England in 2014 the percentage of all children who achieved at least five GCSE grades between A* and C was 68.6 per cent.
