Last week the Gazette reported very strong indications that around a third of the traffic wardens APCOA employed in Lambeth may not be legally able to work.

APCOA provides the wardens in Ealing and gave the council assurances that the situation here is quite different and that all the wardens' papers are squeaky clean.

I feel the council has a casual attitude to the quality assurance of what is basically its traffic law enforcement organisation.

Tickets (PCNs) are being given to my neighbours for the slightest errors with visitor vouchers. (In my road we are all CPZ virgins.)

To be so casual on one hand and precise on the other is hypocritical. As such the council abuses the citizens it purports to represent. The reason for this attitude is that it does no damage to the income stream.

However, I understand the council's parking czar has suspended all warden activities and ordered the combined London boroughs, Benefits Agency, Border Agency and police task force/control centre lorry for Dickens Yard next week to properly check these ACPOA assurances.

Dream on.
