DRUG raids at two locations in the borough have been hailed as a success after officers netted a large quantity of cannabis.

A total of 10 officers from Hillingdon's Borough Tasking Unit executed warrants at addresses in Harefield and South Ruislip yesterday (Wednesday).

At 2pm the BTU used a battering ram to force their way into a flat in Sullivan Crescent, Harefield, where a large quantity of cannabis was discovered.

Officers with sniffer dogs were also used in the raid and investigations are continuing at the scene.

At 4pm in Long Drive, South Ruislip, the same team executed a warrant which resulted in a further quantity of cannabis being seized and a 27-year-old man arrested.

He was bailed to return to Uxbridge Police Station in August.

Inspector Carl Spennewyn, who heads the BTU and oversaw the operation, hailed it as a success and said: "This is our ongoing drive to tackle drug dealers in Hillingdon.

"The warrants that were executed were successful and a good deal of team work was displayed by the officers concerned."
