A Feltham corner shop has been stripped of its booze licence after a worker was convicted for drug dealing from the till.

The combination of Barket Azam's sideline in selling class A and C drugs at Harlington Road Post Office and evidence the store was selling alcohol to underage children persuaded Hounslow Council to revoke the licence at Thursdays night's licensing panel.

Cllr Samantha Davies, chair of the licensing committee, said: "All licensees have a duty to the community to uphold the law and the licensing objectives and where they fail to do so, we will not hesitate to act as a licensing authority.

“Drug dealing and underage alcohol sales are matters that are taken extremely seriously by this committee and such behaviour will not be tolerated in this borough.”

The revoking of licences is a 'last resort' that has only been used a handful of times since 2003, according to a council spokesman
