DROP-IN sessions have been arranged for residents to give their views on proposals to craft a more prosperous future for Harrow and Wealdstone.
They are part of Harrow Council's consultation on regeneration options for an area branded by the authority as the Heart of Harrow – the two town centres connected by Station Road – and its need to accommodate 2,500 new homes and 3,000 more jobs during the next 15 years to meet the Mayor of London's targets.
David Summers, chairman of the consultation's community engagement forum, said: “The Heart of Harrow masterplan is essential to reverse the decline of Harrow Town Centre and Wealdstone. Doing nothing is not a viable option.
“This is a unique opportunity to positively influence the shape of the Heart of Harrow for current and most importantly future generations of Harrovians, and make Harrow attractive for employers and visitors. I urge everyone to please get involved."
Councillor Keith Ferry (Labour), portfolio holder for planning and economic development on Harrow Council, said: “The masterplan we are creating will set out our ambition for how the area is developed over the next 15 years and be a tool for attracting new investment, improving the shopping and entertainment offer and creating new homes, jobs and social facilities.”
Planning officers have been on hand to speak to passers-by outside Sainsbury's in Stanmore Hill, Stanmore, then High Street, Pinner, besides Rayners Lane Tube Station in South Harrow and at Harrow Civic Centre in Harrow.
