A VAN driver found guilty of causing the death of an RAF officer who was cycling along the A40 has been given a community order and banned from driving for 12 months.

Paul Luker, 51, of Farnham Royle, Slough, was sentenced on Monday, March 26, at Harrow Crown Court.

He was found guilty on February 22 of causing death by careless driving.

He hit Group Captain Tom Arne-Barratt close to RAF Northolt in Ruislip, where he was station commander, on March 10 last year.

As well as the driving ban, Luker was ordered to carry 100 hours of unpaid work and will have to sit an extended driving test.
