POLICE are appealing for a driver of a car, who may be able to help them investigate a fatal collison in Hillingdon earlier this month, to come forward.

Sixty-five-year-old pedestrian Eric Wright was killed following the crash, in Long Lane, on October 5 and a woman with him was injured.

Officers now want to trace the driver of a  light-coloured people carrier which was travelling along Long Lane towards the A40, near the junction with Granville Road.

Police have released CCTV footage of the car and are hoping that the driver may be able to provide information that will help their investigation of the collision.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene of the crash at about noon.

Both pedestrians were taken to hospital but Mr Wright died two days later.

Police are still waiting for the results of a post mortem and an inquest has been opened and adjourned.

The woman, aged 62, who has not been named, was treated for multiple injuries and discharged from hospital two days later.

The 30-year-old female driver of the car involved stopped at the scene and was spoken to by officers.
She attended a police station by appointment on October 10 and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been bailed to return in April 2013.

Detective Sergeant Jane Mallet, the senior investigating officer for the North West Road Death Investigation Unit, said: “As a result of the investigation so far we are now trying to speak to the driver of a light coloured people carrier. This driver is being sought purely as a witness and is encouraged to call the investigation team.

“If you are this driver, or know who this driver is, please call us, the information this driver has, no matter how small you think it is, may be very useful to our investigation.”

Anyone with any with any information can call the Road Death Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Garage on 020 8842 1817.
