Police have joined forces with Holocaust survivors to promote a charity project which aims to help youngsters beat bullying and racism.

The initiative was launched last Wednesday at the Central Library in Uxbridge High Street where Hillingdon Borough Police presented the Act for Change charity with a cheque for £2,000 to kick start the project.

The youth charity will be running a series of workshops throughout March and will involve as many as 50 teenagers in the local area.

Ann Kirk, who escaped to Britain as a child refugee, said: "The personal story brings it home to them how horrifying the effects of racism and persecution can be and makes them think about how they would react."
