SHE IS well known for her role as housekeeper Mrs Hughes in Downton Abbey but this weekend Phyllis Logan was tasked with opening the Bedford Park Festival.

The actress, who has lived in Chiswick for over 16 years, officially opened the festival - which is in its 47th year - on Saturday (June 8).

She also had the pleasure of judging the children's dressing-up competition with the the vicar from St Michael's and All Angels Church, Father Kevin Morris.

Despite being one of the main downstairs characters in the multi award-winning ITV series, the 58-year-old is rarely noticed as she wanders around Chiswick, mainly due to the fact she is not wearing her wig and corset.

The Bedford Park Festival runs until June 23 and attracts thousands of people from all over to London to its arts and community events. Go to bedfordparkfestival.org for details and tickets.
