A DONCASTER Rovers fan and his son have contacted the Chronicle to send a message of support to Brentford FC fans.

Neil Sheane-Smith and son Finlay, eight, thought the Bees were very unlucky to conceed a late goal to Rovers on Saturday, which saw the visitors promoted and Brentford facing the play offs.

Mr Sheane-Smith said the Griffin Park crowd will have "a lot of extra Donny fans willing you on" as they battle for a place in the NPower Championship next season.

Here is his letter in full:

Dear Editor,

As obvious ecstatic Doncaster Rovers fans we wanted to commiserate with all the Bees fans after such a cruel way to lose a game.

I have fond memories of Brentford F C as they were the opposition at my first visit to see Donny as a child in 1977 at the old Belle Vue stadium.

Donny won thankfully and I have been a supporter ever since.

However, on saturday, even though your team were on the wrong end of the most thrilling finish to a game in the history of English league football, it goes without saying that your boys certainly deserve a chance in the championship.

Uwe Rosler has performed miracles with your boys and we all sincerely hope the lads (and fans)can pick themselves up and make it to the championship after a great Wembley victory.

Sport can be cruel and kind in equal measures but remember, all is not lost, so COME ON all you Bees fans , get behind your boys and get them up so we can renew friendly rivalry next season.

You have got a lot of extra Donny fans willing you on! Our sincere best wishes for a successful outcome and good luck to Uwe and the whole of Brentford F.C.

Yours sincerely,

Neil and Finlay Sheane-Smith (age 43 and 8,)

Doncaster Rovers fans based in Droitwich Worcestershire
