With reference to Andrew Smith's letter in last week's Gazette, 'We Backed RSPCA to Hilt', I can't really see what the problem would have been to let the RSPCA use their grounds just for one day to hold their annual dog show and fete.

Why would this have interfered with their chosen charity of helping young people into the film industry?

Providing expertise to help five to19-year-olds to make films is hard-ly a life-or-death situation, which unfortunately it is for the animals who they have decided not to help this year. Why not do both?

I find it hard to believe that they would rather give someone some work experience for a few weeks than save lives.
