TALENTED artists with learning disabilities from Harrow held a one-off exhibition in Mayfair.

The 28 painters and sculptors are either tenants of one of Norwood’s residential schemes in London or Berkshire or visitors to its work hub above its charity shop in The Broadway, Stanmore.

They displayed their work during the organisation’s 150-strong annual Patrons Cocktail Party held on Thursday at the Halcyon Gallery, alongside a private viewing of the current exhibition by American glass sculptor Dale Chihuly.

Exhibitor Rachelle Adler, who lives in a Norwood residential home in Hendon, north-west London, added: “What I like most is painting but I also like trying different things.

“I am proud my work is being shown here tonight and want to thank people for coming to see it. I really like selling my art and jewellery and love learning new skills.”

Norwood’s clients’ works will be sold online as part of the Norwood Gifts work skills initiative and a further exhibition and sale of artwork created by people who use Norwood’s services is due to take place at the Halcyon Gallery’s Bruton Street premises on September 13.
