A dinnerlady who has watched over pupils at a Hanworth school during countless lunch times is hanging up her bell after three decades in the job.

Doreen Sanders, of Norman Avenue, Hanworth, retired last week from nearby Crane Park Primary School after 33 years of dedicated service.

Doreen, who turned 69 on Monday, has mixed feelings about starting her retirement and admits: "I will miss everyone I've worked with, both colleagues and
children."

She also said she would like to thank all her friends and colleagues for all their cards and presents, and time over the years.

The school first opened its doors to Doreen, who has been married to husband Michael for 48 years, in 1975, and has certainly seen many changes since then.

Doreen has worked with five head teachers since the beginning of her tenure, from Mr Bates to current head Sue Hardwick.

She even persevered following a hip replacement five years ago and two knee replacements 18 months later.

Doreen said one of the most satisfying parts of the job has been seeing the children she first started with now returning to the school to drop of their own children, with lots still remembering her.
