Dhol drummers and bhangra dancers will christen a new performance space just off Hounslow High Street at its official opening this Friday (April 4).

Bell Square, at the west end of the High Street, at the junction with Bell Road, will host theatre, dance and circus acts, among other performances. A pavilion will be built, offering changing facilities for performers.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring dhol drummers and bhangra dancing is due to take place on Friday at 1.15pm.

Councillor Steve Curran, Hounslow Council's cabinet member for housing, planning and regeneration, said: "Bell Square represents what we want Hounslow High Street to become and along with the wider regeneration of the town centre. We want to create a colourful, exciting vibrant town centre which is a magnet for shoppers and residents."

Its completion marks the first stage in a £2.75 million project to regenerate Hounslow High Street. The next phase will see the shopping parade re-paved, another new performance space created outside Holy Trinity Church and new seats, trees and lighting installed along the street.
