I WISH to bring to your notice a recent very unpleasant incident involving the private contractors lopping the trees recently in Carbery Avenue.
I was walking to Ealing Common when I came on these contractors pollarding the plane trees but noticed that they had been lopping a cherry tree quite inappropriately. When I asked why a cherry tree was being lopped like this I was subjected to assault and abuse. I was shouted at and ridiculed and shoved.
I immediately reported the incident to the council, but although I waited for over an hour there was no one from the tree team available to see me.
I have since had two phone calls with return numbers that do not match up with the person who phoned me and one message was so garbled I could not catch the number or the name. I think the way this has been handled is very unsatisfactory and I require an apology from the contractors and an investigation into the whole incident so it does not happen again.
I do not expect to be treated like this on my own doorstep by contractors who are being paid from my council tax to mutilate flowering cherry trees.
