Investigators are trawling through hours of CCTV images from the police cell in which an Uxbridge man died.
Richard Brian Freeman, 57, of St Christopher Road, Cowley, was found collapsed at the police station in Warwick Place on the morning of Tuesday, June 24, and died shortly afterwards.
Officers had arrested him in Peachey Lane, Cowley, the previous afternoon at about 3.30pm, on suspicion of causing damage to a car.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission says as well as examining the camera footage from the cell, custody area and corridors at Uxbridge police station in Warwick Place, its investigators have also taken statements ‘from most of the officers who had contact with Mr Freeman during his arrest and subsequent detention, and arrangements are in place for further statements to be provided.’
The commission said in a statement on Friday, August 1 that it is awaiting a report from the pathologist regarding cause of death. A post-mortem has been carried out.
It said it was keeping Mr Freeman’s family informed of developments.
