A MOTORCYCLIST who died after colliding with a car in Denham on Tuesday (6) night has been identified.

Sean McColgan, 37, of St Peter's Close, Mill End, suffered fatal injuries when his blue Suzuki motorbike collided with a black Ford Fiesta on the A412 Denham Avenue (North Orbital) at the junction with Tilehouse Lane, at about 9.30pm.

It has been confirmed that Mr McColgan was a serving police officer with the Metropolitan Police.

Two teams from the London Ambulance Service and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) arrived at about 9.40pm.

A spokesperson for SCAS said a basics doctor – usually sent to attend serious road traffic collisions as standard practice – attended the scene at 9.50pm.

At 10.03pm there was no sign of life and Mr McColgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem carried out this morning found he suffered 'multiple injuries'. An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 20-year-old man from Uxbridge, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until June 17.
