A PINNER hairdresser beat off a host of talented competition to win the Avant Garde title at the 25th British Hairdressing Awards on Monday night.

Darren Ambrose, who works in D&G Ambrose Salon, picked up his trophy at a glitzy ceremony held in the Great Room at the Grosvenor House Marriott Hotel in Central London.

The event was hosted by X Factor's Dermot O'Leary. Dubbed the Oscars of the hairdressing world, the stylist was delighted with the recognition.

He said: "I was so pleased to win the title. It means so much to not only myself but everyone connected with D&J Ambrose. This award is also a great tribute to the fantastic hairdressing talent and creativity within Pinner.

"I would like to dedicate this award to my team, as without their amazing help and support I would not have won."
