THESE are just some of the knives sold to teenagers during the council's crackdown on irresponsible shop owners.

Anything Goes, in Station Road, is the latest in a string of Hayes stores to be taken to court by the council following a series of test purchases designed to assess business practice when young people attempt to buy dangerous items.

NS Enterprise, the company who own the shop, was found guilty of selling a 20cm knife to a teenager and fined £1500. They were also ordered to pay £600 in costs.

Councillor Sandra Jenkins, cabinet member for environment, said that the offence was not tolerated by the council but added that trading standards would be running training events for businesses who are unsure about the law.

He added: "We want to support our local businesses so we are offering them help, advice and training for free. It is down to them to take part and make the most of it now."
