Cyril is looking for someone to take him on adventures - adventure in the park, adventure in the woods, adventure on the beach.

He’s got a whole series lined up.

At the moment, he’s on chapter 2 – adventure at the rehoming centre.

He’s already done chapter 1 – adventure at the dog pound and he doesn’t want to repeat that one again.

Cyril’s a clever collie cross who is finding his current adventure in kennels boring and lonely.

Not enough to do and not enough people to do it with.

He wants to be busy.

He loves company and when people visit, he presses himself as close as he can against the bars so that he can feel you stroking his fur.

I went into his kennel to play with him today.

Just like the John Lewis advert, he was over the moon with happiness.

Part of his adventure at the rehoming centre, is being introduced to dog agility.

He’s loves this and, one possibility, could be a new owner who likes agility.

Cyril already knows basic commands and would benefit from further training in his new home.

It’s possible he would be able to live with a laid-back female dog.

If you would like to play a lead role in Cyril’s life adventures, you can meet him at the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT), Tylers Way, Watford-by-pass or call 020 8950 0177.

If you love dogs but can’t have one at the moment, volunteering with the NAWT could be the answer.

At present NAWT have over 40 wonderful dogs waiting for a new home.

Spending time with dogs like Cyril improves the quality of life for that dog, for that day, beyond measure.

It can also improve the quality of your own life.

You can find out more about volunteering, at nawt.org.uk.

They also look after cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, if you would prefer to volunteer with these animals.

NAWT is holding their Christmas Fair on Sunday December 6 (11am-3pm).

There will be stalls packed with goodies, mince pies and mulled wine. You will also be able to look round the Centre.

Sounds like Cyril won’t be bored that day.
