Cyclists are invited to join councillors on a ride to City Hall where they will present their bid for £25 million to turn the borough into a ‘mini-Holland’.

The town hall want to use the funding to pay for quiet cycle ways, provide training for school pupils and make junctions easier for cyclists to cross. It is hoped the changes will make many more residents feel confident about travelling by pedal power.

Riders will meet at 7.45am on Wednesday and will set off at 8am. They are expected to reach City Hall at 9.30am.

Council leader Julian Bell, said: “Cycling is environmentally friendly, gives massive health improvements to people and it’s a great way to travel. It’s a lot of fun.”
