Police are continuing to investigate what caused a cyclist to suffer a fatal fall from his bike in Richmond over the weekend.

Officers were called to the popular recreation and nature reserve on Sunday (24) at 9.30am.

They found the 40-year-old victim on Broomfield Hill - which is a well-visited spot by cyclists thanks to its steep gradient.

The man was taken by London's Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital in a critical condition. He died later that day.

His identity has yet to be released although next of kin have been informed.

Officers from the MPS Royal Parks Command Unit are investigating.

No one else was involved in the incident.

More information as we get it.
