A CYCLIST was left in a critical condition following a collision in Kensal Green with a car that failed to stop.

The crash happened outside Queen's Park Library in Harrow Road at 1.15pm yesterday but the motorist involved allegedly drove off, and now traffic police are appealing for witnesses.

The cyclist, a 23-year-old man, was treated by paramedics and taken to a central London hospital suffering head injuries, and is in a critical condition.

Police investigating the incident said the cyclist was travelling along Harrow Road in the direction of Kensal Green when a silver car travelling on the same side of the road collided with him from behind outside the library.

The offending car allegedly did not stop and continued along Harrow Road before turning right into Fifth Avenue.

Officers believe the vehicle would have sustained extensive damage to its windscreen and damage to its nearside wheels.
