SCHOOLCHILDREN at Durston House Preparatory School in Ealing welcomed the countryside into their classroom when they took part in an initiative to learn about organic farms.
The Organic Milk Co-operative is leading the campaign and sent its wildlife expert, Finlay McLaren, to show a specially created short film depicting a day in the life of an organic dairy farmer, followed by a discussion with pupils. The children then got stuck into some countryside fun, making their own hedgerow wall frieze.
Teacher Neeru Sharma said: “The workshop was a big hit, especially the hedgerow frieze. The children learned about why hedgerows are important and what makes organic dairy farms so special. We’re all hoping we can visit an organic farm this spring.”
