POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 35-year-old woman was mugged whilst walking through a Hayes underpass.

The woman was attacked in Cygnet Way on April 6 at about 7.30pm.

She was approached by a man who had been on his mobile phone nearby.

He ran up behind her pulling her to the ground and then repeatedly punched her. He then grabbed her bag and ran off towards Larch Crescent.

The ambulance were called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital.

The suspect is described as black, about 25 years old, 5ft 9inch and as having a heavy build. He also had dark cropped hair and was wearing a bright blue top under a dark jacket, blue jeans and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Mark Adams at the Priority Crime Unit in Hillingdon, said: "This is a cowardly incident which has left this lady shocked and upset. We are keen to trace the suspect and I urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has further information to contact us."
