ARE you prince of the pans, a whizz with a wok? If not, Kitchen Kings might be the class for you.

A 10-week cookery course for men aged 65 and above is run at Townfield Community Centre by Age UK Hillingdon, and it has proved so popular it is as full as a well-fed stomach. It started on Monday last week, but another course is due to start on September 2.

It is designed to help people prepare, cook and eat simple, healthy and wholesome food, and according to Helen Gibson of Age UK, it could be an invaluable ingredient in your larder of skills.

“It would come in very useful for men who might suddenly find themselves living alone or have a dependent partner, or who have just never had to learn how to cook,” she said.

Kitchen Kings costs £3 per session, although you must commit to the full 10 weeks and booking is essential. Call 020 8756 4393 for details.

The City Bridge of London Trust supplied the grant to run Kitchen Kings.

? AGE UK Hillingdon also runs a lunch club, Lunch and Lifestyle, at the centre in Townfield Road, every Thursday and Friday from noon until 1.30pm.

A main course and dessert costs just £4.50 and there is a 50p discount for members, who also get a loyalty card and a newsletter. Membership costs £2 year.

To book, call Lisa on 020 8756 4390.
