COUNTERFEIT and stolen permits were seized last week, during crack-down on illegal parking in Chelsea.

Five disabled parking badges, including two fake badges and one stolen one, were nabbed during a joint operation with the police and council in King’s Road and Fulham Road last Wednesday(22).

Officers from Kensington and Chelsea Council’s Corporate Investigation Group teamed up with police based at World’s End Estate to target disabled badge misuse in Cremorne and Stanley wards.

In one instance, a driver said he dropped his disabled father off at the Royal Brompton Hospital. Further enquiries established that he was allegedly at home, over 100 miles, away in Cardiff.

Case papers are being prepared and a final decision will be taken by the council as to whether or not to prosecute.

Cabinet member for adult social care, Cllr Fiona Buxton said: “If you are not disabled and think that using a disabled parking badge is no big deal then think again."
