Countdown to one of the biggest community events for families of Hounslow and Ealing has begun.

The popular Brentford Festival entertainment line up has been secured with bands and dance groups ready to go, soft play areas for toddlers in place, fairground attractions and the bungee experience for children are back, countless stalls for shoppers and not forgetting man's best friend, a dog show.

Led by events manager Linda Massey and a large team of volunteers, for a second year running the event will be held in Blondin Park, and is putting on free red routemaster shuttle services for all festival goers throughout the day as there is not onsite parking.

Ms Massey said: "The Brentford Festival team, myself included, are spending our waking hours fine tuning the planning.

"There is that slight worry that we might have forgotten something important as we go over our many lists again and again.

"Our 15,000 flyers are going out later than usual to tie in with the schools going back the week before the event.

"With no parking on site for visitors we are delighted that the red routemaster will return offering a free shuttle service."

The shuttle service will run from Brentford market around 11.50am to Blondin Park.

A circular route will then pick up people at Northfields, West Ealing and Hanwell, dropping them off at the festival before heading back to Brentford High Street.

People are encouraged to stand at one of the designated stops and flag down the bus (www.redroutemaster.com/657)

Ms Massey added: "Event control (my little office) has arrived on site so there is no looking back.

"We are watching the weather but this is out of our control but be assured, we will be there and we ask you to join us."
