AN ABANDONED house that has only homed vermin and squatters is to be repossessed by Hounslow Council.

The property in Brook Road South, Brentford, had been unoccupied for over five years and neighbours have complained it is an eyesore, as well as a breeding ground for rats and foxes.

They also spoke out about rubbish being burned in the back garden and their fears that squatters have taken advantage of the empty lodgings.

Councillor Steve Curran said on Tuesday (29) that despite the council's attempts to encourage the owner to refurbish and bring the property back into occupation, it has been made clear the owner is unwilling or unable to achieve this.

The council will now submit an application to repossess it and a decision will be made within 2 months of the application.
