Town hall chiefs are still refusing to confirm whether a Bedfont ward councillor will be called to appear before the standards committee for misconduct, three weeks after they discussed his case.

The decision as to whether two complaints made against Labour councillor Jiwan Virk, by fellow councillor Mark Bowen, should be officially investigated, was discussed by members of the committee when they met on October 9.

Cllr Virk has been stripped of his party privileges since allegations arose that a property he owned in Hounslow was converted into 'cramped' flats without planning permission.

A second complaint, claiming he failed to declare his interest in a property near his home during a planning meeting was also considered.

But three weeks since the committee met, the council are still refusing to release the information, insisting they needed more time to inform the two councillors.

A spokeswoman for Hounslow Council told the Chronicle: "The Council is not in a position to make any comment until the assessment sub-committee's decision is conveyed to the respective parties."
