IT IS drawing close to the time when the Royal British Legion holds its annual Poppy Appeal collection throughout the country.
As always, we are looking for more volunteers and hoped that by this means your paper would be able to assist in bringing this to the notice of the people in your district.
Last year in the Hillingdon and District area we managed to collect £26,516.49, which was a record, and hopefully we will be able to equal or beat this amount this year.

This year, the deputy mayor has kindly consented to open the Poppy Appeal collection at the Mall Pavilions on October 27 at 11am.
Other civic dignitaries and armed service personnel as well as representative of local business have also been asked to attend.
If there are other people who do not live in this catchment area but would like to assist in their local area, then may I suggest that they-contact their local branch of the Royal British Legion, and offer their services?
I am sure that that their assistance would be gratefully accepted. Alternatively they can contact me and I will arrange to forward their details to the relevant member dealing with the Poppy Appeal
