A convicted murdered who absconded from an open prison has now been on the run for more than a year.

Police today renewed their appeal for information about Derek Wayne Passmore, who they believe may be in Hounslow, Richmond or Twickenham.

Earlier today police also appealed for the public to keep and eye out for convicted burglar Reece Owen who is thought to be somewhere in Hillingdon.

The 49-year-old was imprisoned for life for murdering 34-year-old Paul Craig in a Hampton flat in October 1996.

He left Ford Prison in West Sussex on the evening of June 22 last year and never returned.

Sussex Police today renewed their appeal for information on his whereabouts.

"Passmore is not currently considered to be a direct threat to the public but if people see him they should dial 999 rather than approaching him," said a spokesman for the force.  We are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen him or could know where he could be."

Passmore is described as stocky and 6ft1. He has brown hair and hazel eyes and had a goatee beard when last seen.

Police have said he is believed to have previous links to the Duke of York pub, in Hanworth Road, Hanworth. However, he is not thought to have been seen at the pub since absconding, as police had originally claimed last year.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, email  101@sussex.pnn.police.uk  or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
