A date has been set for a decision to be made on controversial changes to an Ickenham heritage site

The Ickenham Residents Association (IRA) are calling for a compromise between the commercial requirements of the owner of Swakeley's House, in Swakeley's Road, and the needs of the community.

The owner argues that the open days, which run three days a week, do not have a high attendance, although this is disputed by the IRA.

The plans submitted are for the number of public open days to be reduced from three a week to one, much to the disapproval of the Ickenham community.

The IRA have made their objections to Hillingdon Council and main worries include whether the historical landmark and listed building will remain usable for the Festival of Ickenham, and for the Bowling Club to continue using the grounds.

A proposal was withdrawn in July after strong objections, to close the house to the public altogether.

A meeting will take place on August 27 at the Civic Centre, Uxbridge, where councillors will make a decision on the proposals.
