Overcrowding at Gunnersbury station is to be dealt with under a new agreement between Network Rail and Transport for London (TfL).

The latest news was welcomed by the Gunnersbury Station Action Team, chaired by Brentford and Isleworth MP Mary Macleod, who have highlighted the need to reduce the congestion on the staircase

Under the new plans, the underground maps and sheltered waiting area will be moved further along the platform to create more space for passengers at the bottom of the stairs and ease congestion on the platform.

Ms Macleod said: “I am encouraged to hear that Network Rail and TfL have agreed on a temporary solution to the problem of space at Gunnersbury.

"The progress we have made so far is very positive and I want to encourage all those with a stake in Gunnersbury to continue acting with the interests of passengers and local people at heart”.

“I will continue to push Hounslow Council to provide further funding for the redesigning of the station and I will call for a meeting between them, Ealing Council and Blackstone to ensure that the momentum built up so far is not lost.”
