A popular Harrow horticultural fair has been saved thanks to the generosity of people and businesses in the borough.
Harrow in Leaf, a registered charity which protects allotment gardens and green space in the borough, was nearly forced to ditch the annual show because it did not have enough cash.
But after an appeal to Harrow Observer readers people have being showing their support and have stopped the fete from being cancelled.
Georgia Weston, spokeswoman for Harrow in Leaf, said: "Many groups have came forward and offered support. It all really started again after the appeal in the Harrow Observer.
"Local businesses have paid for advertising but our biggest offer of financial support came from a local donor who gave £300, who has wished to remain anonymous, to ensure the show would go on.
"Three hundred pounds is a huge amount of money for one person to have donated and will go towards the cost of security patrols which will be stationed on site."
Other organisations which have donated money include Harrow Bees Keepers Association and Harrow and Pinner Lions Club.
The fair was held at Zoom Leisure in Harrow View, Harrow, for the past five years but the charity decided to find a bigger venue.
The show will now take place at Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre in Pinner View, Harrow, on August Bank Holiday weekend.
Activities for children including face painting, rides and stalls, will take place in and around a 500 year-old-barn and there will be tours of the Manor House which is currently being renovated by English Heritage.
Mrs Weston said: "The old show use to have a marquee which contained a horticultural exhibition. We will continue that part of the show but also have arts and crafts stalls, classes for children and fete for all the family.
"There are still a few pitches available to hire, some as cheap as £10, so local businesses which might be thinking about coming along should definitely get involved."
