A community group which creates neighbourhood plans has stepped up its game in involving people with decisions.

The Central Ealing Neighbourhood Forum (CENF), officially established in 2012, is a local group comprising individuals and businesses and under the Localism Act has the power to control developments within its area.

The forum has just launched a formal public consultation to ask people for ideas and opinions on what Ealing should become, and this will end on September 12.

There is a questionnaire on the CENF website covering the four main areas being reviewed: heritage and buildings, how green spaces can be protected, how we get around in Ealing and jobs and employment.

CENF Secretary Tony Miller said: “This is a new development which means local people can set the rules for how the area should progress and what it should look like in the future.

“The forum has the authority to create plans and control applications that need changing. It sits under the plan for Ealing which sits under the plan for London, it’s the bottom tier of planning.

“We have to consult with people who live, work, shop, study in or visit the area. All those people have the right to make comments about what they want to see Ealing becoming and it’s very important people take part in this questionnaire.”

Mr Miller said the consultation is called Issues and Opinions as it aims to look at the key points which need to be decided and the choices people have.

He said it was launched last weekend (July 26-27) and members of the forum have distributed leaflets to businesses and houses.

The forum, supported by Ealing BID, also plans to launch a youth engagement exercise.
