THE sight and scent of bouquets filled Hayes End Methodist Church for its annual flower festival.
Parishioners and neighbours provided a steady stream of visitors at the weekend to see the arrangements, created by groups who use the building, including the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Companies, social groups for the elderly and church stewards.
The festival, which was first held in 1991 – the church’s centenary – is usually held in the summer, but was postponed because of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and then combined with the harvest festival.
About £400 in cash plus food items was raised for Hillingdon Foodbank.
Co-organiser Enid Thomas said: “The church was beautifully decorated, and it’s an event we enjoy putting on. We had a quite a few people come to see what was going on.
“Each year it grows in momentum.”
