A 46-year-old Chiswick man is accused of almost killing a stranger after stabbing him a number of times.

Unemployed Hassan Omer, of Wilkinson Way, Chiswick, appeared at Ealing Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with GBH with intent.

Police were called to Alfred Way in Ealing at 10pm on Saturday to find an 27-year-old man collapsed.

A police spokesman said: "They found a man with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital by LAS where he is now stable although he was initially critical. The suspect was later arrested and it is believed the two men are not known to each other."

Omer was not bailed and will appear in Isleworth Crown Court later this week.
