A thief who repeatedly dipped into the till at a chicken shop below his flat is doing bird after being jailed for nine months.

Adam Hamzah Deen was caught on CCTV stealing cash from the till of Chicken Supreme, in Kingsley Road, Hounslow, where he used to work.

The 43-year-old, of Blackfriars Road, Southwark, was renting a flat above the store last year when he snuck into the shop after hours nine times in the space of just over a month, stealing an estimated £1,000-£1,500 in total.

He was found guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on March 21 of nine counts of burglary occurring between November 12 and December 19 last year. On Friday (April 25) last week, he was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court to nine months behind bars.

In November last year, Deen's former boss began to notice money was missing from the shop's till on a regular basis despite there being no sign of any forced entry into the premises.

After another £100 disappeared overnight on December 19, he checked the video footage and saw Deen, who was then his tenant, using a knife and hammer to open the till and steal cash.

He immediately alerted the police and supplied officers with CCTV footage of that and eight other incidents.

During each theft, Deen had used a key, which is believed to have been stolen during his time working at the outlet, to gain entry.

He was arrested in Hammersmith on December 31 by officers from Hounslow CID and was charged the following day.
