CHILDREN from a Pinner school were taught a new tricks by a chess champ.
Sabrina Chevannes, the British UK under-21 chess champion, visited West Lodge Primary School, in West Lane,to play games with 26 pupils simultaneously on May 10.
Stuart Long, a teaching assistant at the school, organised the day.
He said: "The children have really got involved in chess. Five of our players drew with her, which was a great achievement.
"Sabrina also went around after and showed all the pupils how they could improve and signed their score sheets."
Students playing in the match were the winners of a school chess competition, which was part of the UK Chess Challenge.
The chess champion is in the middle of a tour of 20 schools in South East England and the highest scoring pupil will win a trophy and wooden chess set.
