Audacious thieves in Pinner have been stealing from under the noses of Police officers - taking plants donated to the station.
For the past 10 years Mansi florists in Pinner Green has been providing the Bridge Street base with plant pots and hanging baskets.
But officers and volunteers were shocked last week to see two of them, worth roughly £40 each, had been pinched from right outside the front door.
Volunteer Marianita Bailey, who has watered and arranged the flowers for the last decade, was outraged at the theft.
She said: "I think it is absolutely unbelievable and it just shows that nothing seems to be safe these days.
"Everyone knows the days of leaving windows and doors open are long gone but this is just outrageous.
"People are always so complimentary and appreciative of the efforts I put in and I am not about to let these people stop me doing it."
The Police confirmed to the Harrow Observer that two hanging baskets with pink petunias and geraniums were stolen from outside the station on Wednesday last week (30) and were quick to remind criminals that this would be treated like any other theft.
A spokesman for the Police said: "Marianita spends an awful lot of her own time ensuring the station is attractive and has won many awards for her flower arranging.
"Her work has very much become a fabric of the community and as police property the theft will be taken very seriously."
Beryl Mansi, who used to own Mansi florist and still works in the shop, was devastated at the news.
She added: "I had been on holiday for a couple of weeks and it wasn't the sort of thing you expect to hear when you come back.
"I think it is incredibly distasteful and I'm very upset for the people who put in so much work to ensure the station looks so beautifully presented.
"It is not something you expect to hear about in Pinner, where everyone is so community minded, but I think it reflects the way in which everywhere is changing."
