A runner who has dedicated 15 years of his life to fundraising is about to take on his last challenge.

Roy Comer,50, of Long Drive,South Ruislip, has run the Flora London Marathon six times, the New York Marathon three times and he will now take on the Great North Run for the third and last time.

The father-of-two said: "I had a second knee operation this year and the doctors said I have to hang the boots up. They said if I carry on running I will have to have a new knee so this is going to be my last big one.

"I have run for many hospitals and my children suffer from asthma so I have run for Asthma UK a couple of times, and Cancer Research UK.

"I have raised money for Dreams Come True for the last seven years because it is a charity which makes the dreams of terminally ill children become a reality."
