People can place their bets in a charity race night which will fundraise for Prostate Cancer UK .

Tom Mitchell, 60, of Northolt , along with other family members, has organised the annual event at The Crown in Northolt Village, next Friday (September 26).

Horse racing DVDs will enable people to bet on their favourites with each ticket costing £1.

The first race will start at 7.30pm and Mr Mitchell expects between 100-200 attendees.

The fundraiser said: “My brother Bob Mitchell and I have done it for the British Heart Foundation for the last three years and this year we decided to raise for Prostate Cancer UK.

“It’s one of the most treatable conditions if you catch it early enough. Several friends of mine have had prostate cancer and have had good outcomes. The trouble with blokes is that we just ignore it.

“We usually take about 60 percent of the funds raised for charity and the rest goes to the lucky winners.”
