A charity set up to help keep homeless men off the streets in Hounslow is in urgent need of donations in the form of jeans and rucksacks.

The Shelter Project Hounslow (TSPH), a joint churches initiative, which provides rough sleepers a roof over their head during the winter months, is urging people to help others stay warm as the first glimpse of snow was seen today (Feb 3) following a sprinkling of the white stuff overnight.

A drop-off morning has been organised to drop off jeans and rucksacks at the Brentford Free Church on Boston Manor Road, every Sunday.

The charity which was launched three years ago involves a dozen churches which open their doors at night between December and March to provide hot meals and overnight accommodation for up to 14 homeless men.

One church opens up each evening with other sending volunteers to help cook, serve dinner, spend time with the guests, provide overnight supervision and breakfast in the morning.

TSPH was named charity of the year at the 2013 Hounslow volunteering awards.
