Journalist Jon Snow headed down to Ruislip to meet some aspiring reporters but still made it back in time to present the Channel 4 news.

Students at Ruislip High School in Sidmouth Drive turned the tables on the seasoned interviewer when grilling him about his career.

The presenter, famous for his colourful patterned tie and sock collections, then met with the school's journalism club and was keen to meet with director of science Remi Moynihan, who had received a lot of praise from the youngsters.

Earlier in the morning the president of the Cycling Tourists' Club (CTC), tweeted that he was on his way to the school - but that the journey out of town was slightly too far for him to hop on his bike.

He made quite an impression on some of the teenagers. Sixth form student Sophie Louizou said: "He was brilliant, what a legend," and classmate Daniel Wicks said: "He was hilarious and inspiring. He made me want to get out there and take on new challenges."

George Kibble, also in year 12 at the school, said Mr Snow was the most interesting man he had ever met.

"He was really easy to listen to. He has done everything - I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to meet such an accomplished journalist," he said.
