A CHAMPIONSHIP footballer has been arrested in connection with a stabbing outside a notorious West Kensington nightclub.

Blackpool striker DJ Campbell was arrested at his team's training ground yesterday before being brought back to London for questioning about the incident at the Crescent Club in which a 24-year-old man was wounded.

Up to 30 people are thought to have been involved in a fight outside the North End Crescent venue when the stabbing happened in the early hours of Sunday, January 10.

It was the second incident of serious violence outside the club following the killing of 33-year-old Ali Toprak in June last year.

The venue has since closed down after the owners went into adminstration, but is set to reopen under a new name, Roots and Kulture.(CORR)

Campbell, who used to play for Brentford and is on loan to Blackpool from Leicester City, was bailed pending further enquiries.
