CELEBRITY chef Brian Turner served up scrumptious meals at the unveiling of Harlington Community School’s revamped kitchen and lunch room.

The Ready Steady Cook favourite, 65, visited the school in Pinkwell Lane, Hayes on Thursday last week, waiting on tables and charming the older residents who attend community lunches at the school.

The refurbishment came courtesy of a £45,000 grant from the BAA Heathrow Community Fund. Catering company Caterlink has been brought in to provide healthier, freshly prepared meals.

Pupils who are learning about the hospitality industry helped with service. Ekansh Sharmer, 14, was congratulated after reaching the finals of a junior chef competition organised by the Rotary Club of Ruislip and Northwood and Hillingdon Council.

Headteacher Liz Horrigan said: “When industry and local communities work together it can produce fantastic results that place a school in the heart of its community.

“I am delighted with Harlington’s refurbished student dining room and the immediate benefit it offers.”
