A drug dealer who claimed weighing scales found with cannabis at his home were for making fairy cakes has been given a suspended jail term.

Officers and a jury at Isleworth crown court didn't buy Narandraprasad Sookun's story, and he was convicted of possession with intent to supply a class B drug, and possession of criminal property on February 26, after a five-day trial.

The court heard how police searched Sookun's home in Ashford Avenue, Hayes, on August 7 last year, and found cannabis worth around £5,000 on the street, and four sets of electronic scales.

They also found a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross with a broken tail and other injuries.

The RSPCA later had to put it down.

At Guildford crown court today (Wednesday), the 42-year-old was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, and he must do 200 hours of unpaid work.
