More than 1,000 homemade cakes were served at a church community fete.

St Stephen’s Church in St Stephen’s Road, Ealing , organised a free fete and games day in Cleveland Park last Sunday (July 13).

The event was put on as a gift to the community, mainly from church members, but also with generous support from Pitshanger Community Association, Heathrow Communities Together Fund, Waitrose and Visage.

Music acts included the UFO Steel band who will be performing at the Notting Hill Carnival, Century Sickness, winner of the Battle of the Bands Ealing showcase, Youth Street Beat dancers and Singology Gospel Choir, as well as St Stephen’s own band.

Children took part in activities such as rugby, sack races, limbo, tug of war, face painting, creating a world cup globe, gardening and had a magician.

The church is also throwing a Strawberry Sunday this Sunday at 10am with a special service.
